Oneka Technologies, a growing company based in Sherbrooke, Quebec, with operations in Florida and Chile, is on a mission to make the oceans a sustainable, accessible and affordable source of fresh water. To achieve this, the Oneka team has developed a technology that produces drinking water from buoys powered exclusively by wave energy. This technology will enable coastal communities and industries to be supplied with fresh water produced in an ecological and economical way.

Job description

The Production Supervisor’s role is to supervise workers in the plant and support the plant’s implementation of new products as well as the continuous improvement of operations with a view to improving the quality and efficiency of buoy production. Under the supervision of the Production Manager, in collaboration with Product Managers, Quality Managers and Purchasing, will lead the manufacturing team towards meeting production and quality objectives by measuring various performance parameters.

Role and responsibilities

  • Participate in the hiring process of workers in the plant.
  • Help supervise the implementation of production lines;
  • Propose recommendations for continuous improvement (e.g. 5S, etc.);
  • Help implement ERP system (manufacturing module);
  • Ensure implementation of operational and quality procedures;
  • Communicate intercepted irregularities to colleagues;
  • Participate in the creation of OHS rules and ensure their application in the plant;
  • Help identify the training needed by manufacturing team members to support company and individual growth;
  • Ensure compliance with and education on employee manual rules for workers in the plant;
  • Help implement ideas leading to quality improvement;
  • Help analyze the value chain with a view to implementing continuous improvement;
  • Analyze and define future needs in terms of production investment;
  • Draft analysis and results reports on departmental projects;
  • Participate in the company’s Industry 4.0 implementation plan;
  • Participate in Kaizen workshops;
  • Planning preventive maintenance work
  • Perform all other related tasks;

Requirements and profile

  • Degree in business administration, procurement or related field;
  • Previous experience as a Buyer or in a similar position;
  • Bilingualism (French and English);
  • Ability to pay attention to detail;
  • Project management, planning and prioritization skills;
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills;
  • Dedicated, creative and rigorous;
  • Desire to have a positive impact on the planet.
