Mechanical Technician

  • Location requirements: 80% in-person; Tacoma, WA + travel to project sites.

    Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fabrication and Assembly: Fabricate simple fixtures and brackets to support engineering efforts. Interpret engineering assembly drawings to build out new and existing systems. Perform instrumentation and electrical wiring, routing, and labeling under supervision of electrical engineers.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Track and perform maintenance on high pressure piping systems and related equipment, providing feedback on system and process improvement. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical issues to minimize downtime and ensure continuous operation.
  • Operate and Monitor: Safely operate high-pressure equipment. Continuously monitor operating parameters to ensure systems are functioning within established safety and operational guidelines.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including OSHA, HAZWOPPER, and other applicable standards. Regularly inspect equipment for safety hazards and take corrective actions as necessary.
  • Travel & Shift Flexibility: Travel to various client sites across the country as required. Travel may involve being away from home up to 20% of the year, with trips lasting up to 1 month. Willingness to work graveyard shifts (night shifts) approximately 10% of the year to support around-the-clock operations.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports of equipment operations, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with technical staff to maintain and improve processes for assembly, maintenance, and system operation.
  • Emergency Response: Respond quickly and effectively to any emergency situations, including shutdowns, power failures, or system malfunctions.

  • Competent using power tools (such as chop saws, band saws) and hand tools
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for up to 8 hours
  • Nice to Haves:

  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, AutoDesk Inventor)
  • Ability to interpret and build to assembly drawings
  • Knowledge of fluid piping systems - pumps, piping/tubing fittings & standards
  • Proficient in handling and wiring circuits up to 480V AC, including control panel fabrication and power, instrumentation, and Ethernet cable routing
  • OSHA, HAZWOPER certification and/or training experience
