The role

We are seeking an experienced 3D CAD Designerto join our team for a contract role focused on the design of a containerised pilot plant. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in creating detailed 3D models using Autodesk Inventor and preparing technical documentation to support the construction and assembly of the system.

Bluemethane measures, captures, and utilises methane from wastewater and water, effectively reducing global warming and supporting the energy transition. Our ultimate goal is to capture one billion tonnes of greenhouse gases from water through methane removal. As part of our team, you will be a key member contributing to our mission's success.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop detailed 3D CAD models for a containerised pilot plant using Autodesk Inventor.
  • Design and model piping systems, pressure vessels, and structural supports in line with process requirements.
  • Prepare 2D construction drawings, isometrics, and general arrangement drawings.
  • Generate and maintain bill of materials (BOM) to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
  • Use Tube & Pipe tools within Inventor to model complex piping systems.
  • Work closely with process engineers to ensure designs meet process, operational, and safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the design process.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for design review and project execution.

Essential qualifications and experience

  • 5+ years of experience in process design and packaged systems involving piping, vessels, and structural supports.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor with specific expertise in Tube and Pipe tools, BOM generation, and 2D technical drawings.
  • Strong knowledge of process design principles, including layout and equipment integration.
  • Understanding of relevant health and safety standards for engineering and construction projects.
  • Experience in working with containerised systems or pilot plant setups is a plus.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a keen eye for detail.

It is also an advantage if you have…

· Previous experience in the water treatment, biogas, or renewable energy sectors.

· Familiarity with standards for modular or containerised plant design.

Location

This is a two-month contract position with the possibility of transitioning to a full-time employee. Bluemethane is based on the Cranfield University Campus. This position is in-person.
