Senior Project Manager
CREW Carbon
About the role
CREW Carbon is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead project execution as we plan, design, and execute new carbon dioxide removal projects. Our solution integrates dosing CO2 removal hardware and monitoring systems into wastewater treatment plants. This role involves overseeing the coordination of multiple internal and external team functions to implement installation of dosing hardware, manage technical operations, coordinate mineral deliveries, and drive project execution across multiple sites.
You will work closely with engineering, science, and commercial teams to meet CREW Carbon’s carbon removal and operational objectives. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical project management expertise and operational leadership within a fast-moving, hardware-intensive startup environment.
This position is a full-time role, with travel expectations up to 30% to project sites across the US. Location will be onsite at our office in Brooklyn, or remote within the Northeast or Mid-Atlantic US.
Responsibilities
- Lead project execution planning, site assessments, and technical deployment of carbon removal hardware.
- Oversee end-to-end project management, including creating and maintaining timelines, budgets, and resource allocation across multiple operational sites.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and science teams to ensure successful installation and performance of CREW’s technology.
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships, including procurement and supply chain logistics for hardware components and mineral inputs, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
- Drive continuous improvement in project execution through data-driven optimization and lessons learned from previous deployments.
- Develop and implement operational systems and processes to streamline project execution and scale efficiency, including developing industry-standard templates and project management resources.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, resolving conflicts or roadblocks at the project level to keep timelines and budgets on track.
- You’re game for all things big and small – one moment you might be working on the 5-year strategy, the next you’re getting hands-on with vendor negotiations or onsite to ensure the system is coming online.
Experience requirements
- 8-12 years of experience in technical project management, operational leadership, or deployment of industrial/hardware technologies.
- Experience managing infrastructure, hardware, or water treatment projects, including design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Expertise in contractor and vendor management, including EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) processes.
- Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills to work with technical teams and external stakeholders.
- Financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control, and project cash flow management.
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution in a dynamic, fast-paced startup environment.
Culture fit
- Passion for climate solutions and sustainability, aligned with CREW Carbon’s mission.
- A proactive, hands-on leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-impact environments.
- Comfortable working on-site as needed to oversee deployments and drive project milestones.
- Emphasis on collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this position is competitive and will depend on many factors including experience, education, and expertise. We offer a competitive benefits package with insurance, vacation, retirement, and equity options.
