Carbon Verification Intern

About the role
CREW Carbon is seeking a Carbon Verification Intern to support the execution of project validation and carbon credit verification across our growing portfolio of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) projects. This role will work closely with our Carbon Program Manager, as well as members of the Technology and Operations teams, to ensure our projects meet the highest standards of scientific rigor, transparency, and auditability.
You will support the preparation of verification materials, data packages, and responses to third-party verifiers and registries, helping CREW Carbon deliver high-integrity carbon credits to our buyers. This role is part-time and can be remote, with a preference for candidates able to work occasionally onsite in Brooklyn, NY or New Haven, CT.
Responsibilities
- Support end-to-end project validation and verification processes for CREW Carbon’s CDR projects.
- Assist in preparing verification documentation, including Project Design Documents, logistics and operational records, and life cycle assessment (LCA) information.
- Help organize, QA/QC, and version-control datasets used for measurement, reporting, and verification (MRV).
- Track verifier questions, clarification requests, and action items, and support timely responses.
- Coordinate with the Technology team to translate technical and operations data into verification-ready materials.
- Maintain organized records of verification deliverables, protocols, registry requirements, and correspondence.
- Conduct background research on carbon registries, verification standards, and emerging MRV best practices as needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Coursework or background in environmental science, climate science, chemistry, geology, engineering, sustainability, or a related field.
- Clear written communication skills and ability to summarize technical information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and deliverable tracking.
- Basic understanding of data analysis and organization in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Preference for candidates with experience in conducting life cycle assessments (LCA) and/or knowledge of greenhouse gas accounting best practices.
- Preference for candidates with experience in Python or an interest in basic data scripting.
- Interest in carbon markets, MRV, and/or climate policy.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a cross-functional team.
