Business Development Manager
At Datatecnics, we provide the world’s most powerful platform for utilities to connect siloed data and model failure risk in their water network. We work with utilities in the UK and abroad, helping them to leverage AI to better manage their delivery of water and wastewater services to millions of customers.

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager to help us accelerate our revenue growth, after several years of co-developing our prediction modelling platform, Foresight, with water companies.
The day-to-day of the role
You are a relationship builder. You love to work with new customers from the initial interaction (where no prior relationship exists) and deliver an exceptional experience from day one.
You will: (a) identify the water companies who would benefit from Datatecnics’ AI platform in our key territories (North America, UK and EU), and (b) curate solutions to the individual problems faced by those water companies, moving the deal through the pipeline and working with the CEO to close.
In this role you will work closely with all functions of the business – learning about our best-in-class AI solutions from the engineering and product teams, crafting campaigns with our marketing team, and being supported in the sales process by the CEO, Head of Finance and Head of Product Marketing.
You’ll be working with a top tier team who are highly competent, friendly and focused on delivering class-leading environmental technologies to water companies.
Key Responsibilities:
Identify specific target accounts
· Research and identify new business opportunities within target markets
· Develop and maintain a database of prospective clients, leads, and key contacts
Strategising, executing and negotiating sales
· Create and execute targeted sales strategies to meet growth targets
· Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting to closing deals with CEO support
· Negotiate contracts and pricing terms with clients
· Collaborate with the marketing team to create tailored sales materials and campaigns
Client Relationship Management
· Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships
· Serve as the primary point of contact for existing clients and prospects
· Identify client needs and propose appropriate solutions to drive customer satisfaction
· Conduct regular meetings and check-ins with clients to ensure the successful delivery of services
Collaboration and Internal Communication
· Work closely with cross-functional teams (marketing, operations, engineering) to ensure a seamless experience for clients
· Provide feedback to internal teams on client needs, market conditions, and competitive insights
Reporting and Performance Tracking
· Track sales metrics and report on business development performance to senior management
· Analyse sales data to evaluate effectiveness of strategies and recommend improvements
· Maintain an accurate sales pipeline and forecast revenue projections
Brand Representation and Networking
· Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities
· Promote the company's services and products to new and existing clients
Necessary skills, qualifications and experience:
· Top-tier relationship building skills (you love connecting with people!)
· Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
· An ability to understand Datatecnics’ technology stack and concisely communicate it
· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
· An understanding of how solutions are procured in the water sector
· Ability to build and maintain client relationships.
· Self-motivated with a results-driven approach to sales.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).
Work Environment:
· Full-time (Hybrid – Manchester office)
· Travel, both in the UK and internationally, is very likely for client meetings and events
Skills that would be helpful to have (not mandatory):
- Water sector experience
- Spanish-speaking
- Previous experience in a technical role or undertaking a technical degree
- Previous experience competitively tendering for work in a regulated environment – whether in water or another sector
Compensation
£45k - £50k base (experience dependent) + strong commission from conversions + EMI stock options
