Role Overview
This placement is ideal for final year Bachelor’s or Master’s university students passionate about data science, machine learning, and geographic information systems (GIS). You’ll work on real-world projects, applying your skills to extract insights, build predictive models, and develop spatial analyses.
Location Detail
The role is available based out of Manchester (where our Head Office is located) or Exeter (where our Water Engineering team are based). Manchester: Time will be split between office and home with typically 2 days a week on-site although the office is available throughout the week. We operate a mandatory Wednesday for everyone to be in the office. Exeter: Location split between home and the University.
Responsibilities
- Clean, manipulate, and visualize large datasets.
- Develop and implement machine learning models to solve business challenges.
- Analyse spatial data using GIS tools and techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful insights.
Ideal Candidate
- Currently pursuing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Python, including libraries such as Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and GeoPandas.
- Experience with machine learning techniques and algorithms.
- Knowledge of GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and spatial analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, teamwork and attention to detail.
