The Position

East Bay Municipal Utility District (EBMUD) is seeking to fill two (2) part-time Human Resources Intern I positions within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Culture (ODEC). These internships offer valuable experience in supporting the District’s employee development and workplace culture. One (1) position will be assigned to Employee and Organizational Development (EOD) with a focus on learning and development, instructional technology, eLearning and mentoring initiatives. One (1) position in ODEC Administration, with a focus on the District’s diversity and inclusion efforts and employee work culture initiatives.
These roles will be part-time during the academic year and may transition to full-time during summer and school breaks.
EBMUD, headquartered in Oakland, is an environmentally and socially progressive, publicly owned utility providing drinking water service to approximately 1.4 million customers in 20 cities and 16 unincorporated communities in portions of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties, and wastewater treatment services for more than 740,000 customers in the East Bay.

Intern Assignments (Select One)
Employee and Organizational Development (EOD) – Learning and Instructional Technology.
This intern will support the EOD team in creating strong learning experiences for employees, with an emphasis on instructional technology, eLearning, and mentoring initiatives.
Sample Duties may include:
• Support development and delivery of learning programs such as leadership forums and career development training courses.
• Assist in the development and improvement of instructional technology resources, eLearning content, and learning support materials (e.g. slide decks, job aides, guides, digital learning assets).
• Provide logistical and participant support for trainings and forums (virtual and in-person).
• Support District mentoring initiatives by assisting with program coordination, research, resource development, and participant tracking.
• Participate in the development and implementation of the EBMUD Leadership Podcast.
ODEC Administration – Inclusion and Employee Work Culture
This intern will support District efforts to strengthen and inclusive workplace and advance employee culture initiatives through data informed strategies.
Sample duties may include:
• Support District inclusion and employee work culture initiatives through planning, coordination, and communications.
• Help summarize high-level workforce trends from approved reports and assist in the creation of user-friendly data dashboards to aid managers in informed decision-making.
• Assist with the development of materials and communications that share insights, progress, and culture building efforts.
• Provide support for meetings, employee engagement activities, and cross functional culture work.
Junior or Senior college students with an interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion; community outreach; and youth workforce development are encouraged to take advantage of this exceptional opportunity to intern with EBMUD. The Human Resources Intern I may be offered the opportunity to continue their employment after the summer. These positions may offer some hybrid schedule opportunities, however throughout the entire internship, the Human Resources Intern Is are expected to be available for on-site work in Oakland, CA, and throughout the EBMUD Service Area.

Requirements

Junior or Senior student currently enrolled at an accredited college or university.
