The SAMS platform is an integrated solution for utility compliance and operations, enabling customers to collect, integrate, and report on regulatory data out of the box. Role OverviewWe are looking for a Water Quality Subject Matter Expert (SME) to bring deep industry expertise into our software platform’s development, implementation, and client success processes. You’ll work cross-functionally with Product, Implementation Team, Customer Success, and Sales teams to ensure our platform reflects the best practices and nuances of water and wastewater quality compliance. Key Responsibilities- Serve as the internal expert on water and wastewater quality regulations, treatment processes, and reporting requirements (e.g., NPDES, SDWA, EPA, and state-level programs)- Translate regulatory and operational needs into platform features and improvements with Product and Implementation teams- Implement SAMS water and wastewater compliance and operational solutions with the Project Management Team- Participate in user research, product design reviews, and roadmap planning- Provide expert guidance during client onboarding for complex monitoring or reporting workflows- Develop and review templates, rule libraries, workflows, and training materials- Monitor regulatory changes and industry trends and advise on implications- Support Customer Success and Sales with expert input during RFPs, demos, and escalations Requirements- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Water Resources, Chemistry, Public Health, or related field- 10+ years of relevant experience in municipal water systems, with 3+ years in a senior or advisory role- Deep knowledge of U.S. drinking water regulations and general understanding of State/local discharge permits- Experience with laboratory methods and interpretation of water quality data Preferred SkillsFamiliarity with GIS, SCADA systems, and water quality modeling tools; Experience with PFAS, lead and copper rule compliance, and disinfection byproducts; Prior work with public utilities, consulting firms, or regulatory agencies; Ability to manage projects and cross-functional teams; Professional Engineer (PE) license or relevant water operator certification.
