There is an urgent need to remove microplastics that contaminate over 90% of drinking and wastewater sources, exposing billions of people to their toxic chemical additives. PolyGone has developed a patented filtration media that passively captures <1 mm microplastics from treatment effluents, reservoirs, and rivers, achieving a 98% lab removal efficiency. Within 2 years, we have launched the world’s first industrial microplastic treatment pilot, set to capture 580M+ microplastics annually. As a seed-stage venture-backed startup, we are scaling our proprietary system and deploying pilots across North America. We are now hiring a Microplastic Lab Assistant (CO-OP) to join our founding team and help us build a world-class company from the ground up.What is the role?We are seeking a Microplastic Lab Assistant (CO-OP) to support our research efforts. This role focuses on assisting with microplastic sample collection and analysis, providing hands-on support to enhance our filtration’s efficacy, and maintaining lab analysis protocols under the supervision of the lead scientist. You are expected to start the role no later than February 1st, 2026. Applicants must be currently enrolled students.Your Responsibilities:- Assist the lead scientist in microplastic sample collection and analysis- Support the R&D team in the development and testing of our proprietary filter material in terms of composition and geometry- Produce detailed lab reports of all analysis results for internal review and documentation- Work with external collaborators for publications- Attend meetings with the client for technical support- Participate in site visits for sample collection, installation support, and system monitoring- Help implement the data collection and sharing protocol to consolidate data with other researchers in the fieldHard Requirements:- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science, or Environmental Engineering- At least 2 semesters of experience in a wet lab.- Excellent communication skills, with English language speaking, writing, and presentation skills being a must.- Prior work experience in a research-track position, 1 recommendation letter required- Work on-site in our lab in New Brunswick, NJ (car ownership highly recommended)- Have work authorization to work in the USA- Must be able to start before February 1st 2026; an earlier starting date is preferred
