Position: Fabrication InternApplication deadline: 04/27/2026Company background: PolyGone is a cleantech startup founded by Forbes 30 under 30 fellows Yidian Liu and Nathaniel Banks. We build affordable and scalable treatment systems to capture and recover microplastic pollutants from water. Our core technology is a proprietary filter media that can capture up to 98 percent of microplastics from water entirely passively and in gravity flow. In 2024, our team launched the world's first wastewater treatment pilot to capture microplastics, successfully recovering over 580 million microplastics from a single treatment stream. Our team recently raised $6.5 Million in seed capital and non-dilutive funding to scale commercial system production. We are currently conducting commercial pilots of our products in the municipal treatment, apparel production, drinking water treatment, and food/beverage sectors, with over $1.2 million in revenue contracted for 2026 so far.Research Internship Description:Responsibilities:- Assist with metal fabrication (cutting, drilling, grinding, basic welding support)- Support assembly of mechanical and fluid systems- Work from and help update CAD models and drawings- Prototype and iterate on design improvements (DFM-focused)- Collaborate with engineering on execution and problem-solving- Support preparation and on-site installation of a municipal-scale pilot systemHard Requirements:- Must commit at least 40 hours per week to this position- Must be able to access our job site in Kearny, NJ- Must attend the office in person 5 days a week- Experience with metal fabrication, machining, or hands-on buildingIdeal Candidate:- Familiarity with CAD (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar)- Comfortable using basic shop tools- Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn- Ability to work on-site and handle/lift materials- Passionate about environmental challenges and our mission at PolyGone- Interested in working with startups- Flexible and proactive in problem-solving- Responsible and committed to the assigned tasks- Efficient, efficient, efficientBenefits:- Competitive stipend- Bonus based on performance- Internship Certificate- Opportunities to learn about and become involved in marketing strategies, early-stage fundraising processes, transforming design and technology into commercialized products, website development- We support international students with CPT (can provide offer letter and supporting documents)Application method:- Step 1: Send your CV and cover letter to info@polygonesystems.com- Step 2: Fill in a short application form at https://forms.gle/S4y1qdtQMvPhU4sQ9- An incomplete application will not be considered
