This role is the first Quality role Puraffinity, reporting into the Head of Engineering. You will take the lead on shaping and defining our quality processes, ensuring quality is embedded into all our processes and our products.

We are hiring a talented and meticulous Quality Assurance (QA) Scientist to support us on this journey and ensure that quality is monitored and maintained throughout.
You will be responsible for establishing the quality processes and procedures to accompany the scale-up steps through to the production of our novel adsorbent material, at tollers and partners. The position includes working closely with the product development and engineering teams as well as external partners and suppliers.
Responsibilities
Raw Materials
- Establish the precise specification for each raw material
- Develop and document analytical procedures to determine whether a raw material meets the specifications
- Establish record keeping procedures to track batches of raw materials
- Support the supply chain and procurement processes where necessary
Production
- Develop any analytical procedures required during the production process
- Evaluate the effect of deviations in process parameters and establish the ideal operating windows
- Work closely with colleagues in the scale-up team to ensure that deviations are kept to a minimum in the final process
- Work closely with R&D to ensure quality is maintained during process optimisation
- Establish the feasibility and the limiting factors for the recycling of raw materials
- Support Certificates of Analysis and labelling processes for production
- Work closely with production partners to establish all necessary quality processes
Product
- Establish the specification for the product and the testing procedures to determine this
- Examine inconsistencies in the quality of the product and determine the root causes
- Establish stability testing protocols
- Support compliance with all relevant regulations
- Determine best practices for the storage and transport of the product
About you
You will hold a degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering and have gained experience in managing all aspects of quality assurance and control. As this is our first Quality hire you will require experience in implementing new Quality processes
In addition, our ideal candidate will:
- Have strong analytical experience
- Have an unwavering attention to detail
- Have an understanding of both regulations and health and safety, and be able to apply this to all aspects of the role
- Have experience of establishing new processes and procedures
- Be an excellent communicator, able to provide concise information to colleagues across teams and to external parties
- Be proactive in ensuring all aspects of product and production quality are considered
