Position Summary:
The SCADA Controls Technician, you will be responsible for the configuration, programming, troubleshooting, and repair of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and related control equipment. they will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliable operation of control systems for public water, wastewater and storm-water utility systems.
Job Duties:
· Design:
o Design, develop, and implement ladder logic programs for PLCs to control industrial processes and equipment in accordance with project requirements and specifications.
o Configure and program touchscreen and remote SCADA Human Machine Interfaces (HMIs) to provide intuitive and user-friendly interfaces consistently following specified design styles for operators to monitor and control processes, visualize data, and interact with the SCADA system and PLC automation
o Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and end-users to understand system requirements, functional specifications, and control logic requirements for SCADA applications
o Conduct testing and debugging of ladder logic programs, HMI screens, and both SCADA server and PLC configurations to ensure proper functionality, performance, and adherence to design specifications
· Installation:
o Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to PLCs, HMIs, radio, copper and fiber-based communication networks, and SCADA systems, applying advanced knowledge of ladder logic and control system principles
o Assist in on-site and remote support of installation, commissioning, and startup of SCADA systems and PLC based Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), providing technical support and expertise during project implementation phases
o Perform software upgrades, patches, and modifications to PLC programs and HMI applications as required to enhance system functionality, address issues, or accommodate changes in process requirements
o Provide training and support to operators, maintenance personnel, and end-users on the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of SCADA systems, PLCs, and HMIs
o Provide occasional electrical and integration support of field equipment when required.
· Travel
o Most work sites are in excess of 1 hour drive from the Data Flow facilities. Travel is typically day trips or trips up to 5 days (Mon-Fri) in length. Weekend work or travel is occasional but uncommon.
o Travel to and from job sites is in company provided vehicles and travel time is paid as time worked.
o Lodging expenses and a per diem are provided for trips.
· Safety and Compliance:
o Adhere to safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe work practices, and compliance with site-specific safety requirements
o Ensure that installations comply with applicable regulatory standards, building codes, and industry guidelines for electrical installations and equipment
