What You Will Contribute:

A control valve sales engineer is a technical sales professional who applies their expertise in fluid dynamics and process control to sell control valves and actuation systems. They function as a crucial link between the technical requirements of industrial customers and the products offered by manufacturers, helping clients select the right equipment for their specific applications. The C&I Sales Engineer works closely with the sales team to design and implement highly technical solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Technical expert: Serve as the subject-matter expert on control valves, providing technical leadership and support for the sales team and customers.
  • Sales strategy and execution: Collaborate with regional and inside sales teams to execute strategic sales plans, identify new opportunities, and participate in sales calls with key accounts.
  • Customer relationship management: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting customer relationships by understanding their business needs and recommending appropriate solutions.
  • Product presentations: Deliver technical presentations and demonstrations to potential clients, showcasing the features and benefits of products.
  • Proposal and quotation development: Review and validate sales quotations to ensure product selection, pricing, and technical details are accurate.
  • Troubleshooting and support: Provide technical guidance to assist with field troubleshooting and to resolve product or application issues.
  • Market intelligence: Gather market insights, including industry trends and competitor information, to inform product development and sales tactics.
  • Training and education: Conduct training seminars for sales teams and channel partners to enhance their product knowledge.

Necessary skills and qualifications

Education and experience

  • Bachelor's degree: A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as Mechanical, Industrial, or Chemical, is typically required.
  • Experience: Candidates need 2–5 years of experience in engineering, technical sales, or industrial sales, with a focus on valves, flow control, or related instrumentation.
  • Product knowledge: Strong familiarity with actuation systems, control valves, and specific valve types (e.g., butterfly, ball, globe) is preferred.

Technical skills

  • Fluid dynamics: A solid understanding of fluids, corrosion, erosion, materials, and how they relate to valve specifications is essential.
  • CRM software: Proficiency with CRM systems like Dynamics 365 is standard.
  • Product knowledge: In-depth knowledge of control valve features, specifications, and applications is necessary.

Soft skills

  • Communication: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills are required for interacting with customers and colleagues.
  • Relationship building: The ability to build and nurture strong professional relationships is crucial for generating repeat business.
  • Problem-solving: Sales engineers must be adept at evaluating client needs and providing customized product solutions.
  • Initiative: A proactive approach to seeking new customers and expanding sales is a key quality.

The Target base salary for this role is $100,000-$105,000 plus sales incentive
