Job Description
Turing is a remote, globally distributed team with an emphasis on collaboration, support and entrepreneurship. Our development team focuses on creating and applying leading edge solutions to a myriad of water treatment related applications. Some examples include, applying reinforcement learning for process control and optimization of reverse osmosis water treatment systems, regressions for predictive maintenance of filter elements, and condition monitoring for early failure detection in water treatment systems. The Engineering Manager will pull together UX, backend, devops and AI teams to produce quality products while deploying those products to our customers.
Duties and responsibilities include
- Assist teams to define project scopes, deliverables, and success criteria aligned with business goals.
- Create and manage detailed user stories and tasks in Jira.
- Lead sprint planning, scrums, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
- Oversee team workflows and progress using Jira and Confluence.
- Facilitate smooth collaboration between engineering, product, and R&D.
- Monitor and define metrics for resource allocation, timelines, and project milestones.
- Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track.
- Continuous improvement through regular feedback and retrospectives.
- Report on project status, team performance, and improvement areas to senior management.
- Partner with the CTO to ensure architecture, system administration and security requirements are met.
- Clear communication with executive management of status, timelines and risks.
- Support and ensure appropriate levels of testing and QA across software roles.
- Provide training on development procedures and evaluate the performance of team members
- Contribute to recruitment, strategic planning and management of remote teams and suppliers, including asynchronous communication.
What we are looking for
Core Requirements
- 3+ Years of experience leading software development teams in an agile scrum environment
- 7+ years of hands-on development.
- Strong written and presentation skills.
- A self-starter with a software craftsmanship mindset and the ability to act on your own initiative.
- Experience working with domain experts and product managers to improve problem definitions, metric selection, and feature selection.
- Experience working with a globally distributed team in different time zones.
Secondary Requirements
- 2+ Years IoT and/or AI development
- 2+ Years AWS cloud and/or Docker
- 2+ Years Python
- Experience using AI for industrial process control
- Working Knowledge of Test-Driven Development
Education Requirements
- BS or above in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or technical equivalent.
