Tusaar is using superior technology to deliver remarkable results in sequestering toxic, radioactive and precious metals around the globe. The company was established in 2009 to commercialize a technology invented and patented at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The development and research has been funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Energy. One exciting element of Tusaar’s patented technology is how simple it is, while being both better at isolating target metals and more economical than other methods. Our process involves the surface treatment and permeation of granulated activated carbon with environmentally friendly organic compounds. It works in an acidic environment, targets over 45 different metals and the process requires minimal pre-treatment. Tusaar media has the unique ability to isolate a large number of metals from a single source in one simple pass through process. In most applications the metals sequestered can be recovered, if necessary, although testing shows that metal saturated media also passes EPA mandated TCLP tests.
