The business owns a fleet of treatment plants that are contracted to customers who need onsite treatment, and offers those customers an experience like their home utility, providing treatment as a service. Role and Responsibilities:
The Controller will be responsible for Upwell Water's treatment business, comprised of APT Water LLC (www.aptwater.com) and an additional fleet of operating treatment plants.
The Controller is responsible for the day-to-day management of accounting, cash management, financial statement preparation, third party reporting including compliance for the parent and subsidiary companies, various ad hoc requests, managing third party auditors and tax preparation teams annually, and other duties as needed or assigned. This role interacts with private equity sponsors, banking and internal audiences for accounting data & presentation requests.
Candidate Background:
The ideal candidate has relevant experience to perform GAAP financial bookkeeping, accounting, and projections, including consolidations, business entity and sales tax. The candidate should be organized, detail-oriented, motivated, and full of positive energy with an "able to do anything but above nothing" approach.
Requirements:
- Bachelors in Accounting. CPA or Masters is a plus
- 5 years of supervisory experience in multiple accounting functions
- Experience with various accounting software, and conversions
- Experience with managing financial transactions for 5+ entities, verticals, or locations
- Experience with consolidated 5+ entity reporting
- Ability to “own” tasks assigned
- Accurate and efficient data entry skills
- Attention to detail and ability to analyze information
- Advanced proficiency in Excel
- Excellent time management, organization, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Ability to maintain high degrees of accuracy, reliability, and manage multiple tasks with flexibility
- High degree of ethics, integrity, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal, written, and grammatical communication skills
- Positive attitude with a professional, courteous, customer service demeanor
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, taking direction well
- Experience in QuickBooks
- Experience managing auditors and tax professionals.
