The Company
Upwell Water (www.water.llc) is a tech-enabled water resource and infrastructure company. We own lines of business in water utilities, water supply, and water treatment to address increasingly acute needs in aging infrastructure, scarcity, and pollution. Backed by major institutional private investors, Upwell Water is one of the fastest growing firms in water.
The Role
This is a senior CPA role with significant responsibility and executive team exposure. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Producing timely monthly financials for a significant corporation with numerous subsidiaries, including subsidiary companies that roll up to and integrate with corporate financials.
- Managing outside auditors to achieve successful audits, and our tax advisory firm to produce annual tax filings.
- Finalization of a Netsuite implementation.
- Human resource and benefit plans via ADP etc.
- Financial planning and analysis, including accounting for new asset and company acquisitions.
Requirements - Please Only Apply If You Meet These
Absolute requirements:
- CPA.
- Minimum 5 years (and ideally longer) experience producing GAAP financials for institutional corporates, particularly ones with multiple entities requiring consolidation.
- Experience managing audits.
- Experience managing annual tax filings.
- Willingness to produce, not just review, financials, and deep facility with quickbooks and Netsuite. Having executed a Netsuite implementation is a big plus, but only facility with Netsuite is a hard requirement.
- Ability to manage AR and AP functions.
- Generally, a focus on and ability to perform Controller functions. We are looking for a doer not just a manager.
- An interest in using new software tools to increase performance of and reduce costs of the finance function overall.
- Able to do anything, above nothing, high energy and positive attitude.
Helpful, but not required:
- Experience with utility, project, and construction accounting. (Please note, no prior experience in the water industry is expected.)
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementations, particularly with Netsuite.
Example backrounds that would fit:
- CFO or VP of Accounting or Finance at a private equity financed or publicly-traded company.
- Similar title at a respected professional services firm performing bookkeeping and accounting functions on behalf of sophisticated institutional clients (e.g. Deloitte, PwC, EY, KPMG, BDO, Baker Tilly, Cohn Reznick, Moss Adams).
Location
Remote is acceptable. NYC office is ideal.
Compensation
Cash compensation is competitive and commensurate with the role and experience.
