About Upwell Water

Upwell Water is a tech-enabled water resource and infrastructure company. We operate across three lines of business: water supply, utilities and treatment, to address the interconnected challenges of aging infrastructure, scarcity, and pollution. We are one of the fastest-growing private water solutions providers, backed by several leading private equity firms.

About the Role

This position combines finance and operations. You will own internal financial modeling and FP&A, support new acquisitions and financings from diligence through close, and play a central role in our business operations, including identifying and deploying AI tools to make our workflows faster and more scalable. It is a high-impact position with direct, day-to-day exposure to our senior leadership team, investors, and transaction counterparties.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain the company's financial models, forecasts, and FP&A framework.
• Lead valuation, investment analysis, research and due diligence for acquisitions and financings, and support investor relations.
• Support transaction execution end to end, working alongside investors, lenders, and advisors.
• Identify, implement, and champion AI tools and automation to streamline financial and operational workflows, improve accuracy, and increase the team's leverage.
• Represent Upwell credibly with C-level executives and senior investment professionals.

What We're Looking For

• Deep experience in company valuation, Excel-based financial modeling, investment analysis, and due diligence. You are an exceptional modeler who thinks fluently in Excel.
• A background in private equity, project finance, hedge funds, or investment banking. Consulting experience at McKinsey, Bain, or BCG may also fit if it includes relevant company and asset valuation and modeling work (e.g., engagements for private equity clients).
• The presence and polish to be effective with C-level executives of major companies and the leaders of top investment firms.
• A strong ownership mentality: no task is too big or too small.
• Fun, happy, high energy, positive attitude.
• Genuine interest in business operations; prior operations experience is not required, nor is prior water experience.
• Enthusiasm for applying and learning new AI tools. You actively source and implement ways AI and technology can automate manual tasks and sharpen decision-making in our organization.

Additional Notes

We prefer candidates who can work in person at our Midtown Manhattan office, though partially or fully remote arrangements may be considered for the right person.
